Wynnum, the hub of Brisbane’s eastern bay coastal villages, is a lively, family friendly seaside community. About 15 kilometres from the Brisbane Central Business District and about 30 minutes by car, the Wynnum Manly precinct offers visitors bayside activities for all ages.
Walk or cycle from Wynnum to Manly, taking a relaxing stroll (or a more active option) beside beautiful Moreton Bay.
Visit the heritage-listed wading pool with its spiral slide. Splash around the waterpark, or build sandcastles on Pandanus Beach. In winter, Wynnum wading pool is transformed into a Wynnum Central Beach Volleyball court.
Wynnum’s jetty is a serene spot to watch the sun rise or set, throw in a fishing line, or just sit and enjoy the bay vista.
A purpose-built Wynnum Mangrove Boardwalk at Wynnum’s north provides an immersive eco-experience. The Lota Creek Boardwalk is another popular walk. An 8km cycle path connects the two.
Birdwatching opportunities abound: take the Wynnum North Reserve Circuit to a purpose built bird hide to view an internationally recognized site for a variety of migratory and shore birds. Learn more.
Every first and third Saturday morning, the Manly Farmers Markets are held at Manly Farmers Village. Find out more.
Established in 1922, the Wynnum Golf Club is set in over 31 hectares of parkland. Check out the website.
Wynnum is a hub for savvy op-shoppers. Thrift stores large and small are located less than 5 minutes’ walk away from Wynnum Dentists: discover a huge range of clothing and jewellery at Vinnies, clothes and furniture across the road at Salvos, vintage wedding gowns at Red Cross, as well as five more op shops in the same block, including Link Vision, Lifeline, and Pandora’s. Walk another block or two and make your own vintage discovery.
Our other favourite lunch option is to picnic by the bay. Enjoy freshly cooked fish and chips from one of the takeaway shops dotted along the esplanade between Wynnum to Lota.
